TS CLAUDETTE/Tornado Warning/Alabama

The power here just returned after three hours. We have two thunder storms rolling in over the next few days. We had a tornado hit within a mile of us a year ago with the last hurricane. Two months ago we had another small one a mile away and then apparently a third this morning. The highway here is bordered on each side by mile wide farm fields apparently making this a magnet for small twisters.

I was sitting out on the long screen porch on our two room former school house cabin enjoying the strong cool 70 degree winds in the light rain – so beautiful and peaceful. Then I heard the tree frogs crank up and it reminded me.

On our old house I built a screened in Florida room and installed a hot tub. Outside of it I built a large fish pond for my wife. We lived just two miles from her office and she loved to come home for lunch and calm down in the solitude. She began eating next to the pond and gazing at the large colorful Koi fish. She said they really calmed her.

One summer evening we were in the hot tub just enjoying and we heard a lot of frogs suddenly croaking out. She was concerned it was coming from our pond and if so the frogs may harm the fish directly or upset the water chemistry. I wasn’t concerned about a thing, I was just chilling. She ran out and said there were a hundred frogs there. She got a crab net and began removing them. After the fourth dip she said she was catching them two at a time! The poor girl didn’t have a clue. My understanding I that tree frogs mate just before heavy storm rains & flooding. She was so amazed she was catching them two at a time, like she was a cop’s flashlight on lover’s lane. No, it’s not a remarkable flashlight.

What was so sad about it all is she didn’t even give them time to smoke a cigarette afterwards and she’s a smoker!

P.S. My wife just said three tornadoes hit our county. I could still use a volunteer to back me up on the website.
