Gov. Greg Abbott said in a Tuesday proclamation he had designated the country’s largest organization focused on advocating for the civil rights of Muslims as a foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organization.

In a proclamation, Abbott said the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, was a “successor organization” to the Muslim Brotherhood, which he also designated a terrorist group.
