Note From Jim: Still Here North of Milton, Florida.
We took a cheap beating. Received a 116 MPH gust of wind that took about 18 trees on the property.
16 were from a tree line neighboring a square half mile farm land. All 16 fell over our driveway. It also took down a few oaks where our drive enter a highway; caused a major blockage there yesterday.
The power company has 2 substations in Escambia county and 6 in my county, Santa Rosa.
The 2 in Escambia are working but all 6 in my county are down. This means their high tension feed cables are down.
We may be without power from one to three weeks.
I hope to come on once or twice per day using a generator.
Lucky for us the temperatures are 60 degrees at night and 80 something in the day.
We sleep comfortably with all windows open at night then close the windows when the house is around 65 degrees. This is a lot better than 100 degree temperatures.
This weather is supposed to continue for a week.
We are ole Preppers. Our screened in porch is our Summer Kitchen. With the power off we brought our our Coleman Camp stove with its 10 gallon propane bottle. This suppliments our propane gas grill.
We have two three freezers that we alternate running every other day. Now if we had a propane Daiquri mixer we would be in heaven.
Our two sons took some structural damage to pole barns and a turned over 12’ X 12’ wooden shed. Their 50' X 50' Steel building lost all three of its roll up doors.
