Note From Jim: Back In The Saddle Again.
I have been away from this website and the research required to maintain it the past couple of months – I have been bogged down by my primary job.
About forty years ago I was newly married and undergoing extensive husband training. She told me she had a flat tire on her car in the driveway. That was wife speech for “handle it.” I got an emergency call from work on that Saturday that consumed about 5 hours. When I got home I discovered she had changed the tire herself but never said a word about it to me, even to this day.
I think I graduated from the training academy that weekend as I learned my new job description was to serve her and her only! The weekend sparks coming out of her eyes reinforced that lesson for life, I assure you.
I told you that she purchased a double-wide last August that was to be our new retirement home on the farm, implying I was to retire and sit on the porch like a scene from Second Hand Lions waiting for the UPS truck. All I can continue to do is the website. The past two months I have been serving her hard pushing for closure on the installation of the home. Yesterday I sat in the County Permitting office for two hours forcing the search for a missing electrical permit that was never filed; but it was yesterday. All that remains now is for the power to be turned on by the end of next week (2 power poles to be installed by the power company).
One reason for the eight month delay in the home installation is half the world is moving to Florida for safety and the contractors, supply lines and the government Planning and Permitting office is not prepared for such an onslaught of growth. Yesterday I found out the forgetful electrician filed the permit three days ago, two months late. He sent it in by email. The County said they had 600 emails unopened awaiting to be processed. I had the application emailed directly to the clerk and thus it jumped the Que; God bless her. Two weeks ago I learned in that week almost two thousand new construction permits were applied for in our small county.
My only remaining problem is we are moving 500 yards from our two-room school house home of the past eight years but now we cannot get internet service at the retirement home. All of the service providers tell me their system is overloaded and cannot fit in a new location on their satellites. Sunday I will begin the process of moving the dish myself and calling for a service call to have the existing service retuned. Then I will be back in the saddle so bear with me as I limp along for another week.
I will post more Rants today as SHE gave me the day off for good behavior.
