Jim’s Rant For The Day. An Almost Free Shot.

I have tried to slow down on my Rants lately but this one I feel I have to share with you.

I have not followed the Will Smith Chris Rock incident nor read anything on it. I did see the video and can’t tell he Smith slapped or punched. No matter.

I am not a violent person and would never suggest it except in extreme situations that may demand it, such as self defense. But we as humans have a long history to predict future behavior. One such history is a man deeply in love defending the honor of his wife – it’s like it’s cooked into his genes.

Rock is a comedian and thus has poetic license to say as he pleases. That is his choice. But at the same time our history says the Smith has the right to mildly protest if his loves reputation is outrageously defiled. Pretty fancy words, ain’t it? Let’s put it in layman’s legal terms – If Smith is sued by Rock for assault, the jury must find for Rock, the plaintiff. But my bet is the jury would never award more than $200 in damages against the wealthy Smith. So for him it was a free shot.
