Jim’s Daily Rant. To Kill A Mocking Bird and Shooting A Bird en-Mass.

Yesterday I finished my Rant Series The Post about how powerful leaders would rather kill or harm millions of people rather than admit they made bad decisions.
This morning I got a memory glimpse from my past. It cheered me up.
When I was around 35 I was the oldest employee in a fast growth computer sales company. Most of the employees were no older than 30. We had stolen salesmen away from IBM because of their skills and the fact that they already owned IBM uniforms, black suits and long sleeved white shirts. We didn’t have to provide uniforms. A hundred percent of them were extroverts.
My office was two doors down from Dan V., the West Coast Regional Sales Manager, also an extrovert. One morning we were approaching our offices coming from opposite directions. You know me, always the clown. I did a quick draw on him and shot him the bird. This was then our habit when we saw each other for the first time each day, just something to brighten the day.
Dan had all of his salesmen in town for a week of training on new software. One night I worked late and got little sleep. The next morning I was groggy and an hour late in unlocking my door. Dan hollered from his office “Hey Costa, come here.” I did.
As I turned to enter his room I saw a dozen penguins grinning and all shooting me the bird! That was both humbling and a needed pick-me-up.

The humbling part from my Rants is that our Elite leaders have been shooting us the bird for several decades now. The needed pick-me-up part is now most of us see it daily and realize what they have been up to.
I am reminded of the expression “Revenge is a meal best served cold.” A little cold bird for them perhaps.
