Jim’s Daily Rant. Taking The High Ground. Raising Up Your County Assembly In one Day.

Many years ago when I had my first experimental Cornea transplant, I was in the hospital in New Orleans for a week. I was healthy with nothing to do but just sit there. I wore hard contacts at the time but they would not allow me to wear the one on the good eye due to it causing “sympathy pains” on the surgery eye.

I brought a inch and a half thick book for the occasion. In spite of not being able to read well, I read the entire book. I couldn’t put it down. It was Lee’s Lieutenants, Robert E Lee’s memoirs of his Civil War battles.

I am not military but always wondered why he is taught at West Point if he lost the war.The book allowed me to get into his head as he made decision based on information he had at the time. He indeed was a military genius!

He made it a point to always seize the high ground (even when on the attack) then form a defensive position. Although always outnumbered 2:1 or 3:1, his strategy usually gave him a Kill Ratio of 7:1.
