If you are a longtime reader, please forgive me for repeating myself.
I don’t think any great news stories will break today and I woke up with this fond memory on my mind. I couldn’t stop laughing so I got up early to avoid waking up the boss.
I grew up in Pensacola, Florida. We are the home of a Naval Air Station where jet pilots are trained. We are also the home of the Blue Angels, so the base means a lot to us.
When I was around 28, I worked with a gentleman my age who played softball in a City league. One day he kept teasing me because he knew I liked to laugh. He promised me a fun filled night if I came to watch his game that evening. He promised me a sight I had never seen before.
He said the team was the most popular team in the league and both sides of the stands cheered when they played. Lynn backed it up with a lunch if I wasn’t thrilled afterword. It was free and the ballpark was only four miles away. It was a beautiful spring day so after dinner we grabbed the two kids and went.
The team Lynn was playing was a group of Security Guards at the Naval Air Station. They were the NADS (Naval Air Dept. of Security).
They weren’t all that great but the crowd went wild hooting and hollering when their wives cheered on their favorite team by hollering “Go NADS!”.
Sports Fans, that team really loved the recognition.
