Jim’s Daily Rant. King Midas of Aesop’s Fables.
I grew up reading Aesop’s Fables, over and over again. One such fable was the story of King Midas, who was consumed by his love of gold. One day Dionyssus, one of the Greek Gods, passed through his province. Midas offered him dinner and in conversation Midas spoke of his love for gold and said “I wish that everything I touched turned to gold.” After leaving Dionyssus granted his wish.
Midas was thrilled with his new power until he tried to eat what turned out to be gold and later hugged his daughter turning her into gold. Midas went to Dionyssus and had the now recognized curse removed and his world returned as though he never had the curse. He realized it was love of life he wanted, not love of wealth.
You know where I am going with this. We have both elected and unelected leaders that value their wealth more than they value the people they rule, their own species.
You know where I am going with this. We have leaders that value their wealth more than they value the people they rule, their own species. This was our wish too because that is what we allowed to happen out of love of our own money and wealth, and so we would not have to bother with leading our own lives in the direction we wished our species to go in.
I hope we too have woken up and now resolve to undue what we have created, no matter what the cost of correction may be.
