Jim’s Daily Rant. Kaitlin Clark And The Indiana Fevers Basketball Team.
I have never been a sports fan, especially regarding basketball. But the last 6 weeks I have seen a huge increase in You Tubes spotlighting Kaitlin’s amazing talents and then defensive moves of her bordering on assaults. I began watching wondering what was going on here as it appeared the postings were somewhat orchestrated by someone. Was that someone being paid to do that?
I was seeing Kaitlin becoming frustrated by defenders actions as well as non-response from referees on occasions and finally by actions by her own coaches and team players. The anger was from frustration on the part of defenders who had difficulty defending against some of her amazing moves – they were trying to shut her down.
Then there was possibly jealousy from some of her team members as Kaitlin was running up the score as well as always in the spotlight. All of this is understandable. Many of those teammates were trying to get product endorsements and that cannot be done when you’re not in the limelight.
Although I never had the time to take a college course in Organizational Change, I studied it deeply on my own. It is an unseen force in all businesses and was part of my Stock-In-Trade.
Their team manager, Stephanie White, was fired Friday. I feel for her. What I learned about Organizational Change is it moves and changes every week. There is no one right way to deal with it; its all by the seat of your pants. There is no right or wrong here. There are only things in motion. White will falsely carry the situation as a scar on her heart forever.
I read Robert Townsend’s book, Up The Organization that covers some of this. He said that if you think your business is running smoothly, you haven’t looked at it closely lately. People change.
Old hands leave and new ones don’t remember lessons learned before they arrived.
I recall in another Management book I read that the author said managing workers is like playing chess, Each player moves differently from the others; each is unique. But then he continued that unfortunately in business, the players are free to move in ways they were not supposed to. One my get pissed, another may be desperate with outside problems. The manager can only guess at their predicted moves.

The Indiana Fevers went quickly from a nothing WNBA team into a superstar in one year. Now with the chaos of Organizational Change, they are falling back on the skids, mainly from slow or incorrect management decisions in Organizational Behavior.
It appears that Kaitlin has just inked a $150 Million contract with a marketing organization, because her contract with Indiana was ending soon. I think her sidekick Sophie Cunningham just announced that she too is bolting as well. Sophie is way too happy, keep an eye on her.
I believe I heard that Kaitlin leads a modest lifestyle. I am sure she drives a tall car, but possibly a used one. I heard she rents and has donated a few $Million to kids parks. It would surprise me if she doesn’t retire at age 30 and lives on passive income. I feel Cunningham may attempt the same.

I am the last person you need to hear basketball talk from. I am sharing this with you because of all the extreme changes we are going through, and that every business on the planet will also be going through rough Organizational Changes in trying to stay alive. First the new 5th Dimension Reality believers will just walk on you. Their Golden Handcuffs will simply fall off as they walk. Then others will re-look their life choices and choose again about a lot pf things. Let’s not forget about product loyalty, dying business models no longer needed, and lack of business credit.
