Jim’s Daily Rant. “Jim, What Are Your Thoughts On Greenland & Trump?”

I recently watched an interview with Ron Maxwell, the Director of the 1993 movie Gettysburg.

In one segment of that interview, Maxwell told of the shooting of the scene of Col. Chamberlain defending their position atop Little Round Top.

The original battle position was now overgrown with trees with thick brush underneath. During the battle there was no underbrush and the Federals had a clear shot of the Confederates rushing up the hill. So they found a new location that had trees only.

The majority of the 2,000 actors were Civil War Re-en actors, history buffs all wearing their own crafted costumes. It was known that the 20th Main unit had only ten minutes to prepare defenses when they arrived at Little Round Top. So Maxwell gave them ten minutes to repeat the process without tools, all by hand like it was done in 1863. That is how the 18 inch rock and limb wall was built appearing in the movie.

I am going to digress a minute from Iceland again. The most astonishing thing Maxwell said was regarding the scene of Robert E Lee cheering the 2 thousand Confederate troops just before Pickets Charge on the last day of the battle. It was unscripted and a fluke!

On the first day of shooting that scene, it was hot and the Re-enactors were wearing wool uniforms. They were in the woods edge cooling off and just waiting because the camera crews were running late. There was a 4 wheeler passing out Gator-Ade and white cups all over the ground. The Re-enactors were frustrated.

Maxwell asked Martin Sheen (Lee) who was there but not prepared to act that day, to dress up and entertain the troops. He spent 1.5 hours putting on makeup and then rode his horse alone out to visit them.

The Re-enactors mobbed him and cheered him on, all impromptu. Sheen said he realized they were not praising him as the actor, but rather they were saluting Lee! He stayed in character and accepted the praise as Lee. They only had ten minutes of film in the camera, so they had Lee’s staff join in and do it again. My Thoughts On Greenland:

I am convinced the earth has been carved up into three spheres: Russia, China and the Americas.I am convinced that Trump was hired to do a fast Bankruptcy Reorganization, his forte.I believe the US has new technology referred to as the Golden Globe to put a defensive (plasma?) bubble over the two Americas, with the tip over Greenland being required. I believe most of the American Sphere countries are already coming into the above concepts, with a few exceptions.

I see Trump with the same problem as Col. Chamberlain faced on Little Round Top. In an instant his whole world will be changing on him. Very soon the wrath of hell is going to hit him and he must be ready.

We are down to our last ten minutes and the old rules no longer apply.
