I have often said that I was always an avid reader, reading anything I could get may hands on.
One boost to my worldly education was my investments in the newly created MAD Magazine.
One month they spotlighted Professor Finner’s work, his Finagling Math Theorem. Simply put, it is the number multiplied by; divided by, added to; or subtracted from your answer to produce the correct answer. Sounds absurd, doesn’t it?
Maybe not. My state has an amendment on the ballot to allow the county tax collectors to apply Finner’s Theorem to next years property tax assessments to produce the taxes for the year. Why is this just now being added to the ballot?
Could it be that the Tax Assessors in my state all see the real estate market collapsing at the same time as hyperinflation hits our money? Could it be they see the collapse coming? The laws controlling how they tax will no longer produce the taxes they will need in the next year as they are hamstrung by tax increases controlled by law.
It’s strange to see their back shelf filled with state law books with a MAD Magazine stuck in with them, isn’t it. But then again, we are in a MAD world now, no doubt about it.
