Jim’s Daily Rant. County Assembly Members – Compensation, Elected or Hired? How Will Leadership Positions Get Filled?

This is a very deep question. To simplify it, let’s break it up into two parts: short term and long term. For now, let’s just focus on the short term, the first 3 or 4 months after activation.

During that time we need volunteers immediately as we don’t have time for elections on day one.

Because we “Need” help, we can’t vet them for skills or experience because we don’t know what we need as members of a Focus Group. That is because we don’t know what they are going to focus on. So we will admit people on a trial basis to see if they are trainable and able to focus on their tasks. If they volunteer they really want to move the County forward.

Our new website will train them to participate. That is their first hurdle. From there they can volunteer for a Focus Group of their choice. If they can focus, assist and work with a group, they are keepers. Perhaps we can view the Groups as sub-contractors hired back based on performance over a period of time trials.

We don’t know what skill-sets we need because we need a variety of people. If a person doesn’t fit in, perhaps we can try them elsewhere and see what happens.

After a short time, I would hope we can compensate them for their time spent; golden handcuffs to keep them going. In order to draw funding we must demonstrate that we are giving back with projects that benefit the local residents. We are not here just to supervise the government.

In regard to elections, I do not have any idea how this will come about or develop. In my mind, perhaps it would be best if the Assembly itself appoint leaders simply by watching the boiling pot and see who continually rises to the top in focused leadership. But these are all things that each County Assembly must decide for themselves.

PS. Each Assembly must violate their Assembly Bylaws when they start-out with just a few Founders. This is the way with new corporations. First you create the organization and get it going. Then you fill in the Board of Directors. After the Assembly is up and running with lots of members, then they need to re-look their Bylaws. They can stick to them or amend them.
