This is an interesting recasting of the River to the Sea theme:
[Deu 11:24 NKJV] 24 "Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the River Euphrates, even to the Western Sea, shall be your territory.
And this is an interesting parallel to changes in Welfare eligibility:
[Lev 19:9-10 NKJV] 9 'When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 'And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather [every] grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I [am] the LORD your God.
You see an example of how this worked in the story of Ruth.
This is interesting in light of the One Big Beautiful Bill's changes to Welfare eligibility standards. My current understanding, based on media coverage, is that able-bodied people, who are able to work, will no longer be eligible to receive Welfare unless they are actively participating in the work force.
In the above passage we find that God's instructions provided for the poor and stranger, but they had to actively work to receive it.
It is fun to notice patterns...
