Dear Jim - Re: Why Are We Afraid?

Interesting topic, and one I've observed and thought about for many years now. First of all, we've grown soft. I call it "pansified". Why? Because we've been indoctrinated by our school systems, our media, our society, and our "leaders" for at least the last 30-40 years.
Indoctrinated that we should never "offend anyone".
Indoctrinated that "everyone's opinion matters equally".
Indoctrinated that every quirk and depravity humans can imagine should be celebrated.
Indoctrinated that we should always "do as we're told" by "experts".
Indoctrinated to keep our mouths shut.
Indoctrinated to put "what others want" before "what we want (and know is right)".
I could go on, but you get the picture. Can you imagine the people of the 1950s, 60s, 70s, or even 80s thinking that way? I certainly can't.
Essentially, we've reached paralysis by analysis. and since everyone's opinion is now valid, we have to make all decisions by "consensus", which inevitably leads to extra time, more money, and less than optimum outcomes. Stop forming committees and make decisions instead! In short, we need to get back to understanding that you can get the first 90% of a solution with 10% of the effort, and that's fine! Why waste 90% of the effort chasing that last 10%? Especially when that last 10% represents, essentially, the "outlier" wishlist?
In other words, it's better to do something than to do nothing. Where did we lose that?
Secondly, we've lost the ability to think critically or to think more than one step ahead. We've been dumbed down. On purpose.
I'll give you an example. It was reveled yesterday that the FBI allegedly did have other tapes of Jeffrey Epstein on the night he "killed himself". The "previous" FBI had "hidden them".
First level thinking: Oh! Bad FBI. BAD FBI!!!
Critical thinking: Why would the FBI say there were no alternate tapes for all these years if there were? Wouldn't admitting that they had the tapes reinforce the narrative that "Epstein killed himself", which is what they wanted out there anyway? Of course it would. So given that a) the tapes exist (allegedly) and b) admitting it would boost the FBI's preferred narrative, why would they say there were no tapes? What was their motivation for doing that? Or alternatively, why is this information coming out NOW? And I think that pondering the answers to those questions will end up being far more productive that complaining that the FBI lied. Guess what? That's their JOB. YOUR job is to see it, ask questions, and figure it out. YOUR job is to think critically.
I hate to say it, but yes, we do live in a generation of fear. In a self-created mental prison, I would argue. At some point we all have to stop living this way, or our forefathers' US of A ceases to exist, as does our Constitution. We have to stop being afraid of losing our house or job. Of divorce. Of fake pandemics. Of failure. Of speaking up. And ultimately, of dying. But get ready for it - if we were to snap our fingers and change it all... today... it will be 30-40 years before we produce the next "thinking" generation. It' took a long time to get here, and it will take a long time to get ourselves out.
So start standing up for yourself. Stop giving away your power. Just try it. Like anything else, you'll get better at it, and you'll actually like and respect yourself more, as will others. Bottom line, no one likes a pansy. No one respects a wuss. People who treat you that way or expect you to act that way? All thy want is power over you. Power that's rightfully yours. Your God-given power.
Start voicing what you really think. Today. You can thank me later.
