Jim’s Rant For The Day. Lack Of Civility On the House Floor.

About six years ago I ordered a book that had in its title the term “Lack Of Civility”. I had to stop and go do research on the term as I was unfamiliar with it. You know me. What the author meant by it was the breakdown of conversation between apposing parties and to spiral into violence due to apposing positions; a lack of future compromise.

Last night I was stunned that FOX News said nothing about what happened on the House floor that caused much chaos there. I thought I knew the story but was anxious to hear all the details yet I got nothing. I think FOX had not received orders on what to say then because this morning they are singing the tale. Here is what happened yesterday.

The House has a rule, as all organizations under Roberts Rules Of Order do, that forbids personal attacks on the President and all lawmakers. The floor can only be used to debate issues, not personalities. Yesterday all order ceased when a bill was introduced that points out that Trump makes PP in his pants. To read the bill’s title violated the personality rule so a debate must have risen up under a Point of Order violation. Then the bill was read and again raised another Point of Order debate. Later Speaker Pelosi made a personal attack on Trump which afterward invoked another Point of Order debate and then a vote to abolish her statement from the record. In disgust Pelosi left the floor also in violation of the rules. After Pelosi left the Chairman tried to calm the situation to no avail and then in disgust he too also violated the rules by leaving the chair and the floor. In conclusion that entire session was a sham and out of order.

So just what does all of this add up to? How about a Lack of Civility for a start. But that sounds more like a flower-like phrase regarding making PP, doesn’t it. Let’s look at it really up close. We are seeing our government shutting down (or being shut down) pushing us further into a lack of confidence in it and thus pushing Americans closer to abandoning the government and accepting a Civil War.

Therefore, to me this is much more serious than making PP.
