Jim’s Rant For The Day. Handgun School.
Today five of our survival retreat members attended a Handgun class, including myself. I am so glad we attended.
Three of us, (60%) had defective guns to begin with. The instructor told us that the average handgun fight lasts for 2.5 seconds. This means that at best you will get off two shots. So if you have a defective gun to begin with, you are dead.
I have a hand me down Browning 9 MM. The chamber is worn out with gas blowing back into the chamber instead of ejecting the shell casing – a future gun jam. Two of my magazines were the wrong size filed down to fit anyway. This would cause a bad magazine loading to start with.
One member had a new Taurus handgun that fires too low. At 25 feet a shot aimed at the heart would hit a kneecap. The third member had a used Glock that someone had altered the sights on. It will always fire to the left until the sight is replaced.
I share all of this with you as a precaution and advise you to see a professional shooter before you think you are covered with a handgun, if you are like me and not a gun nut to begin with.
